The Assignment
An American automotive OEM required manufacturing engineering support to design and optimize automated production lines integrating welding fixtures, robotic systems and factory-layout requirements.
The assignment required the physical production environment and robotic operations to be engineered together, using digital manufacturing and simulation tools to support production-line development before implementation.
Our Approach
CS TECH Ai delivered manufacturing engineering across fixture design, robotic simulation, factory planning and production support.
The engagement included:
- Welding fixture design and detailing
- Robotic simulation of manufacturing operations
- Offline programming (OLP) for robotic systems
- Factory layout planning
- Development of foundation plans for the production environment
- Production-line optimization using digital manufacturing methods
- Ergonomic analysis to support manufacturing planning
- Input-data analysis and visualization
- Manufacturing documentation
- Installation and commissioning support
The engineering workflow combined CAD, robotic simulation, layout planning and ergonomic analysis to digitally develop and assess the production environment before and during physical implementation.
Digital Engineering Environment
The programme used a combination of customer-specific engineering software and specialist digital manufacturing tools, including:
- RobCAD for robotic simulation
- AutoCAD for factory layout development
- ErgoWEB for ergonomic analysis
- Teamcenter VisMockup for input-data analysis
- Customer-specific design tools
