Water Supply Reforms – Urban Local Bodies, Maharashtra

The Assignment

Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across Maharashtra required support to improve the efficiency, management and sustainability of their urban water supply systems.

The assignment focused on water supply reforms and Non-Revenue Water (NRW) management, requiring a detailed understanding of existing water infrastructure, consumer connections, system performance and water losses to support more effective management of municipal water networks.

Our Approach

CS TECH Ai supported ULBs through an integrated programme combining field surveys, GIS-based asset mapping, water audits, hydraulic analysis and NRW management.

The engagement included:

  • Consumer and property surveys
  • GIS mapping of water supply assets and distribution networks
  • Assessment of existing water supply infrastructure
  • Water audits and NRW assessment
  • Hydraulic modelling and network analysis
  • Flow and pressure monitoring
  • Identification of leakage and water-loss areas
  • Support for NRW reduction measures
  • Development of recommendations for improved water supply management

By integrating field information with spatial and engineering analysis, the programme provided ULBs with a clearer understanding of their existing water supply systems and the areas requiring operational and infrastructure improvements.

Impact

Supported water supply reforms across Urban Local Bodies in Maharashtra.
Improved visibility of existing water supply assets, networks and consumer connections through GIS-based mapping.
Enabled systematic assessment of NRW and water losses across urban distribution systems.
Supported identification of network deficiencies and areas requiring intervention.
Provided a structured basis for improving water distribution efficiency and network management.
Strengthened data-driven planning and management of municipal water supply infrastructure.
