ADAS case study
About the Client
A European Tier-1 supplier, who Manufacture ECUs for connected, autonomous, and electrified vehicles.
Mobility Group of above Tier-1, primarily focusing on moving from Function architecture to zonal architecture, develop cutting-edge mobility solutions with long-term vision to reimagine mobility with talent and partners.
The Challenge
As this project is focused on viability of SAE Level 3 automated driving functions on public roads, following are the viability gaps:
- Adaption with Vehicle Architecture: Adapting the E/E Architecture and Integrating the PCAR system seamlessly across diverse vehicle architectures without compromising performance presented significant challenges.
- Complex Algorithm Development: Keeping SDV advancements & challenges, the customer faced the challenge of developing and validating intricate algorithms for “Passenger Comfort” and “Personalization” to ensure robust Advanced ADAS functionalities.
The Solution
Build OS eco-system for SDV platform. Developed software-algorithms in sensor fusion, decision-making, and zone-level control. Developed Feature-rich HMI and connectivity options with in-vehicle communication stacks.
Custom Algorithms:
- AI-Driven Identification & Authentication for Hands free vehicle entry.
- High-precision 3D mapping for accurate object detection in live-stream video/ 2D Images.
- Algorithms to detect signs of drowsiness.
- Comparison & Verification.
- Development of Service-oriented communication API framework.
The Impact
We provided the customer with complete software and hardware development support as per the requirements. Being a one-stop destination for both software and hardware development, we were able to provide an end-to-end solution for our customer.
The following ready-to-integrate components aided in reduced turn-around time:
- Software framework using AI to transform ADAS systems from Reactive to Proactive.
- As current ADAS systems installed in vehicles provide reactive protections that warns the drivers of dangers up to 0.5 seconds.
- However, rule of thumb suggests 2 seconds for safety in case of emergency, many lives can be saved even with slight improvement in warning time.
